Georgia Motorcycle Roads and Trips

Georgia (GA) offers a healthy collection of assorted sceneries such as mountains, coastline, lush forests, and many freshwater bodies that will provide a picturesque backdrop for some wonderful motorcycle rides. The state is rich in Historical Southern culture defined by its people, its music, its history & festivals and will provide motorcyclists with some distinctive amenities. The coastal area of Georgia specializes in windswept beaches, tranquil marshlands, and popular motorcycle ride destinations like Savannah and Fort McAllister Historic Park.

Note: the motorcycle rides below have been divided into two general regions:
          - Northern Georgia (anything north of Macon)
          - Southern Georgia (anything south of Macon)

Northern Georgia Motorcycle Rides

The Extended Suches Loop (Dec 08)

… plenty of picture opportunities on this trip! ... tons of slopes, turns, and a few switchbacks ... a motorcycle stop in Suches, on the left, called Two Wheels Only

Talking Rock to Dahlonega - Route 136 (May 08)

… breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge region. In the winter, Amicalola Falls may be seen briefly from about 10 miles away ... curves are sweeping, not twisty. Grade is significant in spots, but no problem for most motorcycles

… a trip of good open road riding ... very good scenery of rural GA farm and pasture lands mixed with several small southern Georgia towns … straight to sweeping roads … don't miss the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette, GA - it's the namesake of this ride

Georgia's Dragon - Suches Loop (May 07)

… road is in the midst of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Chattahoochee National Forest and drives around the base of Georgia's Blood Mountain … exceptionally beautiful area in the fall as the foliage turns into a picturesque tapestry of red, gold, and green

Blue Ridge to Ellijay (May 05)

… ride offers really nice scenery on the northern side of this route and especially nice when you pass through the Fort Mountain State Park area … roads on this loop are all well maintained and there are countless twists and turns on this route

Northern Georgia Scenic Byway Loop (Aug 99)

… you will be traveling along a couple different official US Government designated scenic byways on this route so you know it’s got to be beautiful … travels along some perfect motorcycle roads – steep, very curvy and in relatively good condition

Southern Georgia Motorcycle Rides

Bainbridge, GA to Chattahoochee, FL (Oct 08)

… travel though the Old South seeing beautiful pine forests and open fields with cows and crops ... a highlight of this trip is when you stop at the landing to get a good view of Lake Seminole

Far above average scenery for that state. (Ex. mountain views, lakes, rivers, hills, or forests.)   Below average scenery for that state. (Ex. an area that simply is lacking in overall natural beauty.)

The road quality factor of each route is rated

Outstanding driving conditions.  Plenty of twists, turns & hills; well maintained roads with smooth pavement.   Straight roads over flat land or rough road conditions with
some potholes or driving
hazards such as gravel

A rating of what there is to do off the bike

Plenty of things to do when it's time to pull over.  (Ex. museums, restaurants, pull-outs, historical sites, entertainment etc.)    Little to nothing to do when it's time to pull over.  (Ex. lack of museums, restaurants, pull-outs, historical sites, entertainment etc.)
